Pongal
Ingredients of Pongal
Well quality Rice - 1 cupMoong dal - 1/2 cup
cumin seed - 1 tbsp
peppercorns - 1/2 tbsp
Broken cashew nuts - 1/4 cup
Ghee - 1/2 cup
chopped ginger - 1 tbsp
curry leaves - few
asafoetida - 2 pinch
Methods of Pongal
1. Dry fry the Moong dal a little till you get a light flavour.2. Mix the moong dal and cumin seed with the rice.
3. Add 3 cups of water
4. The mixture should cook in a presure cooker for 4 or 5 whistle.
5. When done, heat a pan add 1/4 cup of Ghee to it, add cumin seed,
pepper corns, curry leaves, ginger,and asafoetida.
6. Pour the seasoning on the pongal and mix well.
7. you can add some more ghee at the end if you need.
8. Finally garnish the pongal with fried cashew nuts.
9. Serve hot pongal with coconut chutney.
